Save your Existing Home or Building by Restoring it with Colourcon

The Townhall building which is another Colombo icon has a large roof area thats mostly unseen from the outside but very visible from the inner corridors. This roof which was earlier had clay tiles  was replaced with asbestos sheets due to constant leaks that disrupted the large office space below. Due to the poor aesthetic appearance the Asbestos was painted however as the colour deteriorated and the sheets blacked it had to be repainted many times. Under the recent renovation program, the whole roof was to be replaced with new sheets at a very high cost and much disruption to the offices below. However Colourcon was able to propose to restore the roof and place Colourcon tiles above the asbestos sheets without disrupting the office space below allow the building to function throughout the construction process.  This was done at almost half the cost of the initial budget.

The iconic Galle Face Hotel which was built in 1864 and is the first Hotel built East of the Suez is a Heritage site and a Landmark of Colombo. Its Roof which is very much part of its Historic Grandeur appearance had to undergo a major restoration because most roofing products could not withstand the effects of the elements so close to the coast. Therefore Colourcon Double Roman roof tiles was used due to its technical advantages and traditional appearance along with is lasting colour first in 2005 for the Renovation of the South Wing and consequently in 2013 on the North Wing due to its successful performance at site.

The roof of the Taj Samudra Hotel was restored in 2014 with Colourcon Double Roman tiles in the Spanish Flame colour. It was very important for the client to maintain the grandness of the roof of the three buildings and consequently have a maintenance free roof which can withstand the high coastal winds at such an elevation. Further complications involved the curved nature of the side buildings which was tackled by using a complex secret gutter system along with the elevated batten system. The total installation was done by Colourcon.
